Guimaras to host Sining Pambansa 2010
Preservation and development of culture and arts is one of the thrusts of the Provincial Government of Guimaras. In addition, the Province continuously aims to develop and promote Filipino cultural and artistic traditions through diverse culture and arts programs.
Thus, the said province under the leadership of Gov. Felipe Hilan A. Nava is deeply interested in hosting the 3rd Sining Pambansa Festival on February 2010. The said festival offers activities showing different forms of cultural and artistic traditions that will intensely benefit tourism as well as promote awareness and love of the community for culture and the arts.
The Sining Pambansa Festival has seven components-dance, music, creative writing, drama, theater and visual arts. One of the components of the said festival is visual arts through Paper Clay Art Competition with the theme “Husay ng Batang Pinoy 2009” through the JNBM Amazing Arts Phils, Inc. and Have a Heart for the Child Foundation in cooperation with the Department of Education through the Culture and Arts Office and Gov. Nava of Guimaras.
The said competition aims to produce World Class Paper Clay Art masterpieces that will showcase to the world the talents and skills of the young Filipino artists.
In addition, it also targets to set a World Record as the Largest Paper Clay Art Competition (200,000 masterpieces) participated by the young Filipino artists. The Guinness World Records Ltd. shall be invited to authenticate and certify the record attempt under this category.
Furthermore, the Culture and Arts Office of Department of Education plans to have this said competition done yearly.
This year’s theme is “Ako para sa Kalikasan”, since the competition aims to promote environmental awareness among children and youth on what they can do to help in the protection and conservation of our natural environment for the benefit of present and future generations.
