PGMA to inaugurate bridges in Negros Occ.
Her Excellency Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is scheduled this coming October to inaugurate two bridges in Negros Occidental—Binalbagan (Bagacay) Bridge in Hinigaran and Guintubhan (Bagroy) Bridge in Binalbagan. These bridges though started in the year 2000, its completion were made possible through the support of Pres. Arroyo and Secretary Hermogenes E. Ebdane Jr.
The Binalbagan or Bagacay Bridge along Hinigaran-Isabela Road, is a Pre-stressed Concrete Girder Bridge which was completed last July 25, 2009 by Negros Occidental 2nd Engineering District under the leadership of District Engineer Lea Delfinado.
The bridge has a length of 90 meters, width of 7.32m and is composed of three spans. It was built in two phases with the initial phase started in the year 2000. Until its completion, the project has a total appropriation of P54.128 Million. The structure provides a river crossing for commuters especially heavy trucks hauling sugarcane to milling plants in the area.
The Guintubhan Bridge which was built along Binalbagan – Isabela, and also constructed by DPWH Negros Occ. 2nd DEO, has a length of 70 meters, width of 7.32 meters and is composed of two spans. The bridge is a Pre-stressed concrete girder bridge and was constructed in six (6) phases that started in the year 2000. Until its completion this September 2009, the bridge has a total allocation of P52.361 Million.
The completion of these permanent bridges is a remarkable contribution of DPWH to the sugar industry of the province. (DPWH-RO6)
