Bolante to Sen. Roxas: ‘Capiznons not for sale during election’
ROXAS CITY – Reacting on the statement earlier of Sen. Mar Roxas that he will borrow the inheritance of his sister Rhea Roxas Ojeda as funds to ensure victory of allies in Capiz, former Department of Agriculture (DA) Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante said that Capiznons are not for sale during the election.
“Daw kalaw-ay guid sang hambal ni Mar (Sen. Mar’s statement was not good),” Bolante said in a block time program hosted by Mr. Ruben Gonzales and Mr. Rico Infante over dyOW Bombo Radyo Roxas.
Bolante said Capiznons are already mature when it comes to choosing their political leader and could not just be bought during the election.
Bolante said that Sen. Roxas did not categorically mention his name but many believed the senator’s statement referred to him.
“If Mar is angry with Malacañang, he should spare me,” Bolante said adding that what Sen. Mar has done was politically motivated.
Bolante, who declared to run for governor of Capiz, said that the Commission on Audit (COA) and the court cleared his name over the alleged P728 fertilizer scam.
Last Saturday, Sen. Roxas urged his political allies to show their true political colors. Observers believed that the senator was referring to Bolante.
According to him, if some allies are already on the other party then so be it, “thank you and we can shake hands,” Roxas said adding that he doesn’t want allies to have two lovers.
“Di pwede ang may querida (mistress is not allowed), and I will not do it since Korina will fire me,” Roxas jokingly said.
Roxas did not mention those allies but political observers believed that he referred to City Mayor Vicente Bermejo, Vice Gov. Felipe Barredo, former city councilor Mark Ortiz, city councilors and other LP members but who were not around.
The senator got irked to know that Barangay Health Workers (BHWs) who are supposed to attend the Noynoy-Mar consultation were allegedly barred from attending by city government.
Asked what is the basis in selecting their local bets, Roxas said that he will not select allies who are thieves and who will steal the people’s money.
Roxas is referring to Department of Agriculture (DA) Usec. Jocelyn “Jocjoc” Bolante, vice chair of Ugyon Kita Capiz Party, whom he grilled during the senate blue ribbon hearing relative to the P728 million fertilizer scam.
