BIR’s ‘Handang Maglingkod’ program evaluation on
Which Revenue District Office of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) located in Panay Island renders the most effective taxpayer service?
This will be known after the Handang Maglingkod Program Team finishes their evaluation of the five revenue district offices of BIR in Panay Island starting Tuesday, October 20 to 23.
Started in 1990 by the BIR, the Handang Maglingkod Program aims to evaluate the performance of certain BIR offices in implementing particular taxpayer service related activities and to determine which are best able to meet the prescribed performance measures.
It furthers seeks to enhance service of BIR to taxpayers, institute a system for measuring taxpayer satisfaction levels, craft inputs to the performance measurements of BIR officers, and enhance cooperation between the BIR and private sector organizations.
To successfully implement the program, the agency has enlisted the support of the private sectors such as the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP), Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) and the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI).
During the selection process, these organizations assist the BIR in evaluating the performance of its offices in the frontline services delivery.
The HMP team in Panay Island is composed of BIR Assistant Commissioner for Taxpayers Assistance Service Aida Simborio, BIR 6 Director Alert Alocilja, IBP Iloilo Chapter President Atty. Marven Daquilanea, PICPA President William Lozada and Federation of Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Ramon Cua-Locsin. (PIA)
