PGMA finally launches Estancia water project
As part of her Ten-Point Agenda, President Gloria Arroyo led the ground breaking ceremony of the project for the expansion and improvement of the Estancia Water District at Brgy. Bayuyan, Estancia, Iloilo last Saturday.
Funded by the Local Water Utilities Administration (LWUA) the said P30 million project aims to provide 100% water connection to all the residents of Estancia.
The expansion and improvement project includes the drilling of additional wells, provision of electro-mechanical and chlorination equipment, installation of new transmission and distribution pipes including valves and hydrants, construction of a new 250 cu.m. reservoir, provision of power line extension and standby equipment, installation of service connections and provision of non-revenue water reduction program.
The proposed improvement according to Rodney Agregado, general manager of Estancia Water District, will increase the water supply in the municipality and will provide an additional of at least 1,500 service connections.
Agregado said as of August 2009, Estancia Water District has a total of 975 service connections of which 641 are built and classified as 586 residential, 50 commercial and 5 government institutions.
The project will be beneficial to some 5,000 residents coming from barangays Poblacion I, Poblacion II, Poblacion III, Bayuyan, Bulaqueña, Tacbuyan, Paon and Botongon
LWUA has also some on-going projects in the province of Iloilo that include Calinog with P10M budget, Dumangas and Barotac Nuevo with P18M, Janiuay with P15.31M, Lambunao with P10.81M, New Lucena with P8.5M, and Dingle and Pototan with P40.90M.
