Thompson Bible Seminar a resounding success
The fondest desire of 134 participants to own a sophisticated and comprehensive Bible was fulfilled during the 3-day workshop-seminar held at the CPU Educational Media Center, October 15-17, 2009. Participants were pastors, university professors, government employees, physicians, Sunday school teachers, students, newspapermen and laymen. The mission of the 3-day workshop-seminar was to motivate God’s workers towards spiritually directed Bible study which will enable clear and effective communication of God’s Word. The ultimate aim is mature reproducing followers of Jesus Christ who live their lives in accordance with His word.
Since 1982, more than 25,000 pastors, evangelists, and local church workers have been equipped and trained in India, the Philippines, Chad, Bolivia, Paraguay, Chile, Peru, Nicaragua, Mexico and the United States. The 134 Iloilo City graduates of the Thompson Bible International Institute last October 17, 2009 who successfully completed the course are now linked in a special way with thousands of brothers and sisters in Christ ministering around the world. Someday they will meet them in heaven along with multitude of believers who have come into deeper intimacy with our Saviour due to a clearer and more powerful transmission of the Word of God.
The three-day workshop-seminar was presided over by Dr. John Stephen Jauchan, President of Thompson Bible International Institute. He was assisted by Pastor David Dimayuga, Metro Manila trainor and facilitator and Pastor Johnny C. Gaco, Manila director, and Pastor David’s wife who is an Ilongga. As the TBII workshop-seminar came into its ripe sessions, the 134 participants’ desire focused on their Saviour Jesus Christ and never was a day during the 3 days session was a participant absent. Lecturer John Jaucheon was very precise and very effective in bringing the attention of the participants to their toes so to say and drove home the intimate message of the love of God the Father, son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. Never was a dull moment in his exhortation of God’s divine grace and mercy. The assistant lecturer David was equally in his knowledge about God. The praise and worship session presided over by Pastor David was glorious and triumphant. When Pastor John appealed for voluntary financial assistance to a beleaguered pastor in El Salvador, the total offering was over P70,000. Asked about his impression of the workshop-seminar, “the sessions were very fruitful. The Thompson Bible is like a mini-library of God’s Word. The seminar had greatly emphasized closeness to the heart of God,” remarked Dr. Christopher Rey de Guzman, allergy-asthma specialist. “I learned so much in the 3-day workshop-seminar about God,” enthused Fred Salvania, Professor and Manager of CPU Franklin Boys’ Dormitory. The oldest participant was Elias Arandela, 91 years old, a retired pastor who successfully went through the 3 days extensive workshop, tests and lectures. Pastor Jon Jainga of the First Southern Baptist in Jaro gave the closing prayer.
