Mayoralty aspirant appeals not to blow-up case vs. brother
BACOLOD CITY – An aspirant for the mayoralty post here in next year’s election Vladimir Gonzales appealed to the public not to blow up the issue against his brother Ariff who was arrested for the crime of robbery and illegal possession of firearms last week.
Gonzales said he was surprised to learn of the incident and stressed that he knew his brother as a responsible person and without any criminal records.
“The issue might cause emotional damages to his brother’s kids and family members,” Gonzales added.
He said the case has already been filed against Ariff so let the law takes its course. He also hopes that the arrest will not affect his desire to serve the Bacoleños in the 2010 elections since this can happen to anybody.
“I have no control of him so hopefully the people would understand the situation this time,” Gonzales stressed.
Thursday last week Ariff Gonzales, 36, of Helvetia Heights Subdivision, Brgy. Villamonte, Bacolod City was arrested when he allegedly robbed a former eatery service crew member at the corner of Luzuriaga and Gatuslao streets at about 2:30 a.m.
The case of robbery and illegal possession of firearms have been filed against Gonzales but he was confined right now at one of the private hospitals in the city after he suffered hypertension when he was in jail after the arrest.
Recovered from him was a .45 caliber pistol with magazine loaded with 11 live ammunitions and a 9-mm pistol.
Gina Adlaon, 19, of Purok 1, Brgy. 29, Bacolod in her complaint affidavit said that she was walking at the corner of Luzuriaga and Gatuslao streets on her way home, when a silver pick up vehicle stopped behind her.
A man alighted from the vehicle and asked her if she has a cellular phone. When she replied that she has one, the man pointed a .45 caliber pistol at her and declared a hold-up, then took her Motorola cellular phone. The said phone has a value of only P4,500.
While in the hospital, Gonzales already posted bail amounting to P100,000.00.
According to Police Senior Supt. Celestino Guara Jr, OIC BCPO Director, proper procedure will be followed as they will wait for the resolution of the prosecution office after the suspect was brought for inquest.
