City to open business permit application Nov. 15
BACOLOD CITY – The city government of Bacolod through the Permits and Licensing Division which is under the City Mayor’s Office will start to accept application forms for the 2010 business permit on November 15 this year.
Ardis Jaculina, chief of the division, said this is to ensure that the applicants would no longer rush next year as they start processing their renewal and even new application for their permits.
It has been a practice by some that although the city has one-stop-shop for the business permit applicants but still many cannot process on time because of long lines.
The processing of permits usually starts every first week of January until February.
Jaculina is expecting a great change in terms of applicants when they will open it on November.
In terms of collection, Jaculina reported that they registered and processed 14,000 business permits for the period of January to October 2009.
They are also expecting an income of P240 million before the year ends and an estimate of P300 million next year.
“Bacolod City as a highly-urbanized city has consistent record of 10-15% increase every year in terms of collections,” she added.
The venue for one-stop-shop next year will depend on the decision of the mayor.
“The mayor should choose among the New Government Center, Bays Center and SM City Bacolod,” Jaculina added.
It aims to increase the city’s edge in luring investors by streamlining the process of business registration and licensing which will also serve as the city’s one-stop information center for would-be investors and small and medium scale entrepreneurs (SMEs).
The streamlining of the “processing” of business registration and licensing created also a positive notion to probable investors as well us to those who are doing business in the city today.
