Local artists release Original Kinaray-a Music albums
SAN JOSE, Antique – Two foremost original Kinaray-a artists, Mark Quintela and Sammy Rubido, released their Original Kinaray-a Music (OKM) albums which are highly anticipated by their fans and the whole Kinaray-a people.
Quintela, an OKM balladeer, celebrates the Kinaray-a language in his album, Atun Tana Dya, which is also its carrier single. A native of Bugasong and is known for his inspirational, emotional and patriotic compositions, he mixes the ‘Kinaray-a crunch’ with his melodic renditions of Ikaw Palanggaun, Rugya Lang Ako, Antique Oh, Antique, Probinsya, Atun Tana Dia, Hala Bira, Estudyante, Sarigan Mo, Ikaw ang Paglaum, Dab-uta ang Bituon, Pagtinguha and Luha.
Rubido’s lively and upbeat novelty music has again perk up his album Kaurumul The Album. His straightforward lyrics depicting the ordinariness and beauty of Antiqueño life still paints the canvass of his new album which includes the songs Lantay-Lantay, Pitik, Plastik, Karya, Balay sa Uma, Antique Palanggaun, Uli Run, the new version of Pamalaran, Napulo Ka Sugo and Sikad-Lagaw which is the official theme song of a bicycling event initiated by the Provincial Tourism Office of the province of Antique this year. The album also includes the official theme song of a community website www.kinaray-a.com and the organization Kinaray-a.com, Inc. which is Rubido’s gift to the said website-organization during its 2nd anniversary last year.
According to music lovers, “listening to the songs of Sammy and Mark make you sing and fall in love and will make you celebrate the Karay-a heritage and blood in you.” PIA
