Jamora open to having Treñas in their group
Presidential Assistant on Water Undersecretary Larry Jamora was surprised of the declaration made by Mayor Jerry Treñas yesterday that he will be running for congressman in next year’s election.
“I thought all along that their group is intact,” Jamora told members of the media in a press conference at his office a few hours after Treñas made the announcement.
Jamora said Treñas is a force to reckon with in the congressional race so it will definitely affect Rep. Raul Gonzalez Jr.’s bid for a third and last term.
Asked about the possibility that Treñas will run with their group, Jamora said that he is open to the idea but he clarified that they haven’t talked about it yet.
“We haven’t talked about forming alliances yet, but I’m open to anybody as long as we embrace the same objective for the good of the city,” Jamora said.
It is public knowledge that Jamora is seeking the help of former Mayor Mansueto Malabor in getting the support of people in the barangays.
Malabor ran for congressman in 2007 elections but lost to Gonzalez Jr. He has not yet officially declared his political plans for next year’s polls.
Jamora said his bid for the mayoralty post is already full steam ahead. Together with Malabor and other political allies, Jamora has been going around the barangays in the city consulting the needs of the people and soliciting their support.
Jamora has yet to divulge the complete composition of their group saying they are still waiting for developments in the coming days.
