Capiz PNP forms Task Force Quios
ROXAS CITY – The Philippine National Police (PNP) provincial office led by Provincial Director Sr. Supt. Josephus Angan, formed task force Quios, due to the series of killings of barangay chiefs in Barangay Quios, Panitan, Capiz.
Last Tuesday noon, Brgy. Captain Rolando Besorio was ambushed by two motor riding suspects in broad day light at around 11:40 a.m. at Sitio Bocboc, Brgy. Quios, Panitan, Capiz
Besorio succumbed to three gunshot wounds on his head. He was declared dead on arrival at Bailan District Hospital.
Recovered from the scene of incident was one empty shell of .45 caliber.
Mrs. Aurora Deocampo, one of the witnesses who was a companion of the victim during the time, said that the two suspects who were riding at the single motorcycle overtook them upon reaching the crossing in Sitio Bocboc then fired towards the victim.
According to Deocampo, the victim was driving a yellow multi-cab issued by the 1st District Cong. Antonio del Rosario for the barangay when the incident happened.
Mrs. Nejelia Besorio, wife of the slain barangay captain, said that her husband left their house around 8 a.m. going to the municipal hall where he solicited for the fiesta. He was ambushed while on the way home.
Besorio, being number one kagawad, replaced Brgy. Captain Dante Del Mindo who was killed in an ambushed last February 26, 2009 during a benefit dance at Sitio Bocboc, Quios, Panitan, Capiz.
During the ambush on Del Mindo, John Pionelo, who was on the other side, was also killed.
The two groups filed appropriate cases against each other. The provincial Prosecutor’s office conducted a preliminary investigation on June 18, one was: Imelda Q. Del Mindo, (wife of Dante) complainant vs. Joebert Acuesta, NPS docket No. VI-06-INV-09C-00075 for murder and P02 Roberto C. Besa, Jr, complainant vs. Ronie Dorado a.k.a. “Adobo”, Ferry Delfin and Alfonso Del Mindo, NPS docket No. VI-06-IVN-09C-00080 for murder.
Acuesta was the suspect in the killing of Del Mindo while Dorado, Delfin and Del Mindo, who are companions of Del Mindo, were the suspects in the killing of John Pionelo.
To recall, Del Mendo was a controversial barangay captain after he was meted with 90 days suspension last year by the Panitan Sangguniang Bayan for neglect of duty and abuse of authority.
His accusers were Barangay Kagawads Acuesta, Orlando Besorio, Jose Doron, Francisco Pionelo and Ronaldo Hontiveros.
Del Mindo was one of the 13 barangay captains who supported Tincupon Brgy. Captain Richard “Bantit” Dadivas, an opponent of Liga ng mga Barangay President Ignacio Deocampo.
