Photographic Society of Iloilo turns 29
Iloilo City Tourism Officer Ben Jimena, assisted by Therese Jarantilla-Robles and President Carlos Garcia, opens the Annual Photo Contest-Exhibit. Looking on are members Dr. Malbar Ferrer, Alden Lim, Jessie Garcia, John Guevarra, Neil Valera and Romy Reyes.Photography hobbyists and friends gathered to celebrate the 29th anniversary of the Photographic Society of Iloilo (PSI). The event was held at the Sarabia Manor Hotel and Convention Center. Not even Typhoon Ondoy (which hit that day), stopped the PSI and their friends from enjoying the photo contest, magic show and the awarding of the Photographer of the Year that took place that night.
Jun Rojas was adjudged 2009 Photographer of the Year. Dr. Vic Pido was 2009 Photographer of the Year in ‘Safari’ Category. Jessie Garcia won First Place in ‘Best Shot’ while Francis de la Cruz won First Place in ‘Geometry.’
PSI is headed by Carlos Garcia. The members are engaged in different professions, with photography as their hobby. They hold monthly contests, the themes of which, were already pre-selected for the whole year. Then, the culmination takes place every anniversary celebration where the Photographer of the Year is announced.
PSI has 20 active members.
