Tan, Puentevella lead UNO-R survey
BACOLOD CITY – Bacolod Lone District Representative Monico Puentevella and former Land Transportation Office (LTO) National Capital Region Director Ricardo Tan led the latest survey results for mayoralty and congressional race, respectively, conducted by the College of Political Science Community Extension and Research Office last October 18-24, 2009.
This is actually a follow-up survey prior to the filing of the Certificate of Candidacy of Local Candidates scheduled on November 20, 2009 until December 1, 2009.
Using the same methodology (during the random survey), with the same sample of number of respondents, 1,200 representative adults 18 years old and above and the same margin of error of plus-minus three percent, with ninety-five (95%) level of confidence, Mayoralty aspirants Puentevella led with 33.02 % and followed by incumbent Mayor Evelio Leonardia with 28.97 percent and mayoralty aspirant Vladimir Gonzales posted with 19.51 percent with 18.5 percent undecided.
For the congressional seat, former LTO-NCR Regional Director Ricardo Tan led the survey with 22.66 percent and followed by Atty. Renecito Novero with 20.14 percent while Atty. Jocelle Batapa-Sigue and Dr. Anthony Golez posted with 18.20 and 13.74 percent, respectively with 25.24 percent undecided.
On the other hand, Incumbent Vice Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson led also the survey with 27.66 percent while Councilor Greg Gasataya and Wilson Gamboa Jr. posted second and third with 17.01 and 12.32 percent, respectively, with 43.01 percent undecided.
Some of the remarkable observations by the UNO-R survey research said that Tan increased the level of confidence from 19.07 percent to 22.66 percent. Novero is working well to bridge the percentage discrepancy between him (18.58%) and his running mate Monico who during this survey, at 33.02 % enjoys a convenient lead over the incumbent Mayor Leonardia.
Councilor Batapa-Sigue showed no significant improvement from 17.85 % to 18.20% but due to her latest opposition on the P250 million loan controversy for the squatter relocation project, this might as well give her percentage boost.
On the side of Dr. Anthony Golez, from 10% to 13.76 percent, he is also improving but it’s still a long way to come close to his nearest rival (Batapa-Sigue), need to pick up precious percentage from the remaining 35.5 % of undecided voters even before the filing of COCs.
The Community Extension and Research Office of the College of Political Science of UNO-R takes full responsibility for the design and conduct of the survey as well as for analyses it makes based on the survey data in keeping with their academic nature.
