CPU to host Miss Earth 2009 Talent Night
Central Philippine University (CPU) will be the venue of the Talent Night of Miss Earth 2009 this coming November 17.
Dr. Anita Ilenberger, Director of CPU’s Cultural Affairs Office, in a press conference yesterday said the school has started making preparations for the big event where 80 Miss Earth contestants will be arriving.
The Miss Earth 2009 candidates will be having a caravan 3:15 p.m. of November 17 along the major streets of Iloilo City. The Talent Night to be held at the Rose Memorial Auditorium will start 7 p.m. with 15 Miss Earth 2009 candidates performing.
Miss Earth 2009 contestants were divided into three groups, which held simultaneous preliminary talent competitions in three different locations. The winning contestants from each group will compete for the final talent competition that will be held at CPU.
Miss Earth 2009 is a beauty contest with a cause on environment preservation. In relevance to their theme, “Green Lifestyle”, the candidates have been attending different advocacy programs and for a in the country, including visits to “green” sites, mall tours and interviews with the press.
Eighteen semi-finalists will be chosen in this year’s competition. They will be trimmed to 12 until only eight exceptional ladies would remain to compete for the following titles: Miss Earth, Miss Earth-Air, Miss Earth-Water, and Miss Earth-Fire.
The Grand Coronation Night will be on November 22 at the Boracay Eco Village Resort and Convention Center in Yapak, Boracay Island.
CPU President Dr. Teodoro Robles said their institution agreed to be a partner in the Miss Earth 2009 competition as their participation in making the people aware about the present state of our environment and awakening them to be involved in its preservation.
