Fire gutted 60 houses in Antique
Around 60 houses were destroyed in a fire in Brgy. San Fernando, San Jose de Buenavista in Antique province Wednesday evening.
San Jose Mayor Ronnie Molina said that the 7 p.m. fire occurred along the coastal area mostly inhabited by Cebuano fisher folks.
The mayor said the victims were immediately relocated and provided food assistance by the local government unit at the nearby elementary school in the barangay.
He said the Municipal Disaster Coordinating Council (MDCC) of San Jose, Antique Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, Department of Social Welfare and Development and other government agencies are assisting the families.
Fire Officer 2 Jerry Pon-an of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in San Jose said they are still investigating the cause of fire which razed an estimated P2.5 million worth of properties. (PNA)
