Stanley Palisada’s write-up on political butterflies aptly describes the kind of politics practiced in the Philippines particularly in Iloilo City.
I wish that we’d revert to the two-party system circa early ‘50s until the multi-party system took hold. My personal opinion tells me that, flitting from one party to another is more an exercise in convenience rather consistently adhering to the party’s principles regardless. Yes, a clear example is the primaries where Obama and Clinton were fiercely campaigning to be the democratic party’s presidential candidate. But, once the nominee had been chosen, the defeated candidate, i.e., Clinton, did not bolt the democratic party, although I bet, to lose the nomination was a bitter pill to swallow.
I guess Filipinos have not yet matured in the exercise of political governance.
Will that day ever come? All I can say is... hope springs eternal...

Citoy Arenas returns
Citoy Arenas together with his mother Rosemarie “Baby” Arenas will be meeting with the media again anytime this week to firm up Citoy’s congressional bid in the Second District versus the Syjucos. There are reports that Baby Arenas, through the intercession of former Board Member Cecile Capadosa, has offered P10 million to Pavia Mayor Cadio Gorriceta for the latter to give up his plan to run for congressman. In a related development provincial administrator Boy Mejorada, with the help of former Vice Governor Obet Armada, will organize the Arenas press con. What can you say Ibrahim?
Vice mayoralty race
Kagawad Jam Baronda believes she can easily beat Kagawad Joe III Espinosa in the vice mayoral race as shown by recent survey results. In other words she is not afraid of Joe III but is more concerned of Kagawad Tony Pesina, who recently exposed a bombshell against her. Anyway Joe III has his own reasons why he pursued his plan to run for vice mayor of Iloilo City. Maybe he believes that he is also winnable.
