Kabankalan candidate crowned Ginoong Mangunguma 2009
Nonito Pausa, a farmer representative of Barangay Hilamonan in Kabankalan City was crowned as the Ginoong Mangunguma 2009 during the Coronation/Pageant Night Thursday, November 26 at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Barangay Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
The activity highlighted the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist’s (OPA) conduct of the “Farmers and Fisherfolks Summit 2009” which is in support of the GMA – F.I.E.L.D.S. and Gov. Zayco’s HEARTS Plus Program and the 4th Negros Island Organic Farmers’ Festival.
Pausa; who won for himself a pump and engine equipment, a cash prize and trophy; bested 26 other farmers and fishermen candidates coming from different towns and cities of Negros Occidental.
First runner-up and Best in Talent went to George Pedros of Sipalay City who was given a cash prize, trophy and a grass cutter. Joebert Gonzaga of La Castellana was the second runner-up and received a knapsack sprayer, cash prize and trophy.
Third runner-up went to Norberto Sotto of Talisay City and fourth runner-up Ronald Nava of Moises Padilla.
Other awardees included Best in Working Attire which was won by Eliseo Lansiola of EB Magalona; Best in Production Number won by Nilo Vierniza of Calatrava and Best in Filipino Attire and Ladies’ Choice Award won by Joemarie Bersales of Toboso.
Judges of the event were Provincial Human Resource Management Officer Virginia Parreño, Provincial Tourism Officer Jennylind Cordero, Msgr. Guillermo Gaston, Carlito Delfin and Nino Manaog.
The event’s special guests included the international grand champion, Ensemble Madrigal and Sex Bomb member Yvette Pabalan. (Capitol News)
