Calle Real or JM Basa Street
In the Spanish times, one popular street was Calle Real. Now, it’s JM Basa Street but some people still use the old name.
Calle Real was the main city street. This was where one bought trendy clothes, gadgets and more. This is where people went when they want to see the latest movies, to dine, to have a party. It was THE place. Lots of personal memories that have gone through here. Now, they are just stories of yesterday.
Today, what’s left of the place are stores struggling to sell almost anything, vendors lining the sidewalks and jeepneys, not spanky or shiny cars pass through. The trisikad and pedestrians are in rivalry.
People now get goods from sidewalk and vendors and whatever stores that are left behind – that’s the story. One rarely seeks a spanky eater – they’re gone!
Now JM Basa Street, it has become just one of the avenues for people to roam around and see the old buildings. Enjoy the old buildings and dream about what they were like yesterday. (Copyright I-Travel Series)
