Gov. Tupas sons file CoCs for Iloilo guv, board member
Iloilo outgoing Gov. Niel D. Tupas Sr. sons Barotac Viejo Mayor Raul C. Tupas and brother Nielo filed their certificates of candidacy (CoCs) for governor and board member, respectively, at the Iloilo Comelec Provincial Office at around 1 p.m. yesterday.
Gov. Tupas said that his sons are throwing their hats on the gubernatorial post and as board member of the Iloilo fifth district under the Liberal Party (LP), which he is the provincial chair.
The governor said that Nielo who is the latest from the Tupas family to seek elective post has the qualification as a graduate of B.S. Commerce Major in Computer Management at the St. Joseph’s College in Metro Manila and has been a political officer.
Last Nov. 28, Gov. Tupas also filed his CoC for congressman in the fourth congressional district of Iloilo while his son Cong. Niel C. Tupas Jr. also filed his CoC for his reelection in the fifth district under LP.
Another son Nielex C. Tupas also filed his CoC last Nov. 28 at the Iloilo City Comelec office as a reelectionist for the city council under the regional party Ugyon, an LP affiliate.
The governor said that his sons are running for the May 2010 elections banking on the tract records of their father as a long time public servant and their willingness to serve the people. (PNA)
