Sapian plaza ‘Light a Tree Contest’ launched
SAPIAN, Capiz – In observance of the Yuletide Season, Sapian town plaza is now full of Christmas lights after the ‘Light a Tree Contest’ was launched last Wednesday night at the said place.
Mayor Arturo “Turic” Orosco, Sr. said that some 15 participants joined in the said contest which is in cooperation with the ten barangays, the Local Government Unit (LGUs) and Non-Government Organizations (NGOs).
Orosco, who pioneered the contest, said that the town plaza could be used as one of the tourism attractions especially during at night.
Dubbed as “Kasadyahan sa Bayan”, Orosco, who is supported by wife Mrs. Vangie Oñas Orosco, said that the trees will be lighted from December 2 until January next year.
Prizes at stake in the “Light a Tree Contest” are: 1st prize, P 25,000; 2nd prize, P15,000; 3rd prize, P 10,000 and consolation prizes, P5,000 each.
It was learned that the funds for the prizes comes from the pockets of the Orosco couple.
