Bacolod City is Best Tourism Oriented LGU
Bacolod City will be among the frontliners in the 2009 Western Visayas Tourism Excellence Awards to be held in Roxas City beginning tomorrow having been chosen as the Best Tourism Oriented local government unit in the highly urbanized city category.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia, together with Councilor Homer Bais and Tourism Officer Imogene Kana-an, will personally received the most recent award bestowed to Bacolod in awarding ceremonies to be held on Sunday.
Leonardia said that the award is a show of appreciation to the city government’s efforts to promote local tourism that include the holding of the world famous MassKara Festival, the Bacoloadiat and the Inasal festivals as well as the efforts to accommodate local and foreign tourists.
He also congratulated the other awardees from Bacolod namely, Nyala Tours as the Best Tourist Transport Operator, L’Fisher Hotel (first class) and The Sylvia Manor (standard class) as Best Hotel, SunStar Bacolod got the special award for Travel Publication and Josel Malinaw (Faith Taxi) got the Best Taxi Driver award.
Bacolod City has been a recipient of numerous regional and national awards since 2004. These awards include the Top 3 Best City Peace and Order Council, Top 3 Best City Disaster Risk Management, Consistent Regional Outstanding Winner in Nutrition, Top 6 Best City Library, Most Business Friendly City, Most Child Friendly City and Most Disabled Friendly City among others.
