Bacolod, Negros Occ. reap WVTA awards
BACOLOD CITY — Sanguniang Panlungsod Member Homer Bais, chair of the Committee on Tourism yesterday reported that Bacolod City and Negros Occidental were among the recipients of so many awards in the just concluded Western Visayas Tourism Assembly (WVTA) held in Roxas City, Capiz.
Bais said awardees from Bacolod City and Negros Occidental are Bacolod City–Best Tourism Oriented LGU (Highly Urbanized City); Bago City -Negros Occidental–Best Tourism Oriented LGU (Component City); Silay City–Special Award Best Tourism Oriented LGU (Component City). Other awards mentioned by Bais are NYALA Tours–Best Tourism Transport and Jose Malinaw Driver of Faith Taxi who was adjudged as Honest Driver for returning to his passenger the substantial amount of money left in his taxi and L’Fisher Best Hotel (First Class) and Sylvia Manor–Best Hotel (Standard Class).
He likewise said that during the Miss Western Visayas Tourism Night, the Miss Panaad 2009 of Negros Occidental was crowned as winner followed by Miss Dinagyang 2009 as First Runner Up and the Miss Masskara 2009 was adjudged as Second Runner Up.
Bais was very thankful because our Bacolaodiat Festival and the Chicken Inasal Festival was also acknowledged as tourism attraction in Western Visayas.
“If our tourism effort was promoted in Western Visayas it is because of the Ordinance passed by the City Council supporting the same,” Bais said.
Meanwhile, Ang Bagonhon Bago City–Special Award Travel Publication, Silay, The Sweet Life–Special Award Travel Publication; Balaring Mangtove–Special Award, Eco-Tourism Product. Also awarded are Severino Pacete, Regional Director’s Award, Cristine Mansinares, Sipalay City–Best Tourism Officer (Component City) and Jennylind Cordero–Negros Occidental (Best Tourism Provincial Officer Award).
