Gathering of Ilonggo writers December 12
Sumakwelan, an association of Ilonggo writers will hold their annual Christmas Party on December 12 starting 7:30 a.m., election of new officers, exchange gifts, and induction of officers. USec. Larry Jamora will be the guest speaker. The incumbent officers are ex-Judge Nilo Pamonag, President; Faustino Ramos, Vice President; Rodrigo Ponte Sr., Secretary; Emee Espina, Asst. Secretary; Cris B. Balairos, Treasurer; Policarpio B. Sueño, Auditor; Fernando S. Junsan, Business Manager; Jay Balnig, Press Relations Officer. Rodolfo P. Gumabong, Chairman of the Board of Directors, with Nilo Pamonag, Faustino Ramos, Fernando Junsan, Cris Balairos, Mariano Gogil, Jr, Atty. Agustin Misola, Maria Luisa Gibraltar, Policarpio Sueño, Rodrigo Ponte, Sr., Pio Apil, Jay Balnig, J.V. Perez, Tony Masculino and Ric Grozen, members of the board. Former City Fiscal Agustin Misola is the consultant.
Veteran Sumakwelan poets and proclamators will render binalaybay and composo numbers. Exchange gifts will follow after the special composo and binalaybay numbers. Pres. Nilo Pamonag will render his report followed by the announcement of the association’s 62nd year anniversary, and on the spot short story contest in Hiligaynon in March 2010 with handsome cash prizes for first, second and third prizes plus five consolation prizes.
Sumakwelan was founded sometime March 1948 held at CPU campus. Leading Hiligaynon writers who pioneered the Ilonggo writers association were former Gov. Conrado Norada, Atty. Ramon Muzones, Santiago Alv. Molato, Agustin Misola, Esteban Amparo, Flavio Zarragoza Cano, Nicolas Baban, Lino V. Moles, Abe Gonzales, Augurio M. Abeto, Epifanio Solis, Manuel Decrepito, Gaudencio Golez and many others.
