PNP: ‘Sinadya sa Halaran generally peaceful’
ROXAS CITY – The holding of Sinadya sa Halaran as well as Western Visayas Tourism Assembly here was generally peaceful, Sr. Supt. Josephus Angan, provincial director, said.
Sr. Supt. Angan said policemen were deployed during the celebration 24 hours a day and they were ordered to conduct “operation bakal” which resulted to the recoveries of deadly weapons from some spectators that deterred the commission of criminalities.
Angan also clarified that a the killing of one person who was found dead at the provincial park was not a festival-related incident.
He also said that the police conducted checkpoints at both the entrance and exit of Roxas City during the festival.
Earlier, Capiz Governor Victor Tanco, Sr said that the Sinadya sa Halaran and the holding of Western Visayas Tourism Assembly was successful and peaceful.
Tanco thanked the cooperation of several mayors and other public officials who set aside political differences to make the festivities a success.
Sinadya sa Halaran with Western Visayas Toursim Assembly was held here from December 3 -8 where all provinces of Western Visayas participated.
Activities which attracted spectators were the participation of all festivals in Western Visayas, Miss Western Visayas Tourism and Miss Sinadya sa Halaran pageant nights, firework display and many others.
