City employees, brgy officials to receive Christmas bonus
Regular and casual employees of the city government will receive Christmas bonus from the city government. The allocation for the bonuses of employees is up for approval in this Wednesday’s regular session of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said the regular employees are expected to receive P30,000 each while casual employees to include traffic auxiliaries and police auxiliaries will receive P2,500 each.
The bonuses for regular and casual employees would be taken from the city’s savings. The bonuses being allowed by the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) depends on how much is the savings of each local government unit. Treñas said they are still checking on how much is the total savings of the city for the year.
The city government has some 1,600 regular employees and more than 3,000 casual employees. The casual employees are hired through a job-hire basis.
Treñas added that barangay captains will also receive P4,000 bonus regardless of political affiliation. The barangay kagawads, barangay secretaries and SK chairmen will receive P3,000 each.
There are number of punong barangays in the city who are supporting the tandem of Congressman Raul Gonzalez Jr. and Presidential Legal Counsel Raul Gonzalez Sr.
There are also punong barangays who remained loyal to Treñas. The split among the barangay captains originated when Treñas go against the will of the Gonzalezes and run for congressman this May 2010 elections.
The mayor said the budget for the bonuses of employees is up for approval this Wednesday’s regular session. He did not however say on how much is the supplemental budget which includes the bonuses of employees and barangay officials.
The mayor said as soon as the legislative body approves the supplemental budget, he wants the City Treasurer’s Office to release the bonuses on December 17 until 19.
