Tanco cites more projects in the city
ROXAS CITY – Capiz Governor Victor Tanco has cited several projects in Roxas City, contradicting the claim of City Mayor Vicente Bermejo that Senator Mar Roxas, 1st District Congressman Antonio del Rosario and he (Tanco) had no contribution in the city’s priority projects.
Bermejo made the revelation during the turnover of checks of the Santo Nino Homeowners Association at New Road Banica and at the Urban Poor, Milibili in Roxas City for its water system recently.
Tanco cited the concreting and construction of barangay halls, which were implemented by the village officials themselves. He said that the officials asked that their projects not pass through the city government, claiming that Bermejo ignored the implementation of such.
Tanco said that the city has been a beneficiary of the festival’s income.
On other hand, Del Rosario also claimed that the congressional district has many projects in the city like the repair of President Roxas Memorial School (PMRS) in Tanque and many others.
He also cited the skywalk, which he erected at Roxas Avenue several months ago.
Earlier, Provincial Administrator Zoe Herrera said that President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo for not giving Senator Roxas his Country Wide Development Funds (CDF) or pork barrel, resulting to a “lack of projects in Capiz, particularly in Roxas City.”
Herrera said that Senator Roxas has brought P1-billion-peso worth of projects in Capiz and Roxas City from 1993 -1998 before he was appointed Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary.
He added that Senator Roxas was stripped off of his pork barrel since 2005 up to the present after he became an opposition and a staunch critic of the President.
“I think several mayors are living witnesses of Senator Roxas’ projects,” Herrera said in a radio interview.
