Food that God prohibits from eating
In the Old Testament times, God the Father had prohibited the Isralites from eating the blood of an animal and other species of hiskinds. God said in Deuteronomy 14:3-4, “Thou shall not eat any abominable thing. These are the beasts which ye shall eat, the ax, the sheep and the goats. And all the clean birds ye shall eat. But these are they of which ye shall not eat the eagle, and the ossefrage and the aspray (fish hawk). And the glide, and the kite, and the vulture after his kind (glide-any certain bird of the hawk). And every raven after his kind. The owl and the night hawk, and the cuckoo and the hawk after his kind. The little owl, and the great owl and the swan. And the pelican, the gier eagle, and the the cormorant (dark colored voracious sea bird). And the stork and the heron after his kind and the lapwing and the bat (lapwing – strill wailing gray fish). Ye shall not eat anything that diet of itself, thou shall give it to the stranger that is in thy gates, that he may eat it, or thou mayest sell it unto the alien for thou art an holy people unto the Lord thy God. Thou shall not see the a kid in his mother’s milk,” Deuteronomy 14:12-21. Even the roebuck (male roe deer) and the hart (adult male of the red deer) is eaten, so thou shall eat them the unclean and clean shall eat of them alike.
People who have not read the Bible or heard the sermon of the minister may not be aware of God’s prohibition on food by his chosen people, the Christians. In Africa and in the Middle East where hunters kill beats and other animals, they may not know God’s command on what food to eat and eat not.
Filipinos are lovers of sumptuous food. This Yuletide Season and the New Year, Christian homes are abundant with a variety of Filipino dishes. Dunogo-an is the favorite delicacy of the household. In far-flung areas where food is scarce, natives may eat any kind of food they like even those prohibited by God. In Deuteronomy 12:24?
In Deuteronomy 12:23-25, “Only be sure that thou eat not the blood: for the blood is the life; and thou mayest not eat the life with the flesh. Thou shalt not eat it; thou shalt pour it upon the earth as water. Thou shalt not eat it; that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, when thou shalt which is right in the sight of the LORD.”
The Jewish people and the Filipino Christians, and all Christians for that matter, are one and believe in God the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Christians throughout the world use the Holy Bible and use the Holy Scripture as basis for their belief in the Holy Trinity. Some Catholics, Pentecostal-Born Again Christians and the Seventh Adventists follow the commandment of God the Father when it comes to eating not the blood and other prohibited animals, birds and fish.
God loves His people, the rich, poor, the afflicted and the sick. He does not want them to die in their sins. He wants His chosen people to be righteous and holy in His sight and enter into His kingdom. I Thessalonians 4:7, “For God did not call us to uncleaness, but in holiness.” God loves His people so that He wants them to come out from uncleanliness. Therefore, “Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord, Do not touch what is unclean, and I will receive you.” II Corinthians 7:17.
Does God’s children like to live temporarily on this planet earth? Then by all means let’s obey God’s commandments and have life eternally in God’s presence. But who can enter the kingdom of God? Those who received Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, do away with all sins, live holy and righteous life until He comes. We have nothing to lose if we are in Jesus Christ, God the Father and Holy Spirit but everything to gain since we can inherit God’s kingdom. Decide now, don’t let this Year 2009 pass and remain an unbelievers.
