‘P130M Pavia housing project scam ‘politically motivated’
CITY Mayor Jerry Trenas Trenas considered the issue on the alleged resolution of the Ombudsman Visayas on the P130 multi-million housing project as “politically motivated.”
He said the issue only cropped up after he decided to run as congressman and parted ways with the Gonzalez’s. It is also one of the issues raised on the day he announced his political plan.
Trenas reaction was in response to reports on his alleged indictment over the multi-million housing project which eventually turned into a white elephant. Reports said he is going to face graft and corruption charges because of the housing project.
The mayor was then an ally of Presidential Legal Counsel Raul Gonzalez Sr. and incumbent Representative Raul Gonzalez Jr. Trenas became nemesis after years of being in one political ticket.
The elder Gonzalez admitted he was the one who asked the Ombusdman not to “prioritize the Pavia housing case.” He stressed he became instrumental in Trenas election as city mayor and could not bear the thought that the latter will languish in jail.
The chief executive viewed the alleged Ombudsman resolution is a form of harassment, intimidation and persecution from his political opponents. They have mastered the craft of persecution, intimidation and harassment.
The alleged Ombudsman decision did not weaken his will in pushing for his election as congressman of the city against the younger Gonzalez who is seeking his third term and last term.
The mayor said he is ready to ready to face whatever resolution the Ombudsman Visayas comes up regarding the P130 million Pavia housing project. He said his conscience is clear and has done nothing which is disadvantageous to the government.
“I have done whatever what he is expected to of me to do and in accordance with the law. I am prepared to answer whatever recommendation the Ombudsman Visayas will hand down, stressed Trenas.
