BFP-Roxas City accredits 65 firecracker retailers
Roxas City – About 65 firecracker retailers were accredited by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) here to engage in the trade of firecrackers and related – merchandise during the holiday season.
“A seminar on fire safety to educate and avoid fire accidents was conducted by the firemen before the retailers had set up their firecrackers for sale,” said BFP – Roxas’ Fire Officer 3 and Public Information Officer Rayman Vela.
He added that all firecracker retailers have been placed along Legaspi and Taft streets particularly at the back of Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion campus to avoid fire accidents.
An “Oplan Iwas Paputok Iwas Sunog” is also being conducted by the BFP to remind residents of possible fire hazards like Christmas lights and fire crackers during the holiday celebration.
“We will distribute leaflets and fix posters in strategic areas to caution the public on the hazards of firecrackers and pyrotechnic devices,” Vela noted.
The campaign is the BFP’s proactive measure to minimize fire incidents which usually increase steeply in December due to the celebration of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The fire safety consciousness campaign will be complemented by the fire truck and BFP personnel visibility. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
