A Musical Symphony of Fireworks on January 1 in Bago City
Now on its second year of bringing entertainment to the people of Bago City and the entire province of Negros Occidental including Bacolod City, The Lights of Bago 2001 will, once again, feature the musical symphony of fireworks on New Year’s Day, January 1, 2010.
Lights of Bago (LOB) Executive Director Raymond Stoffel, who is also the Honorary Consul of Luxembourg to the Philippines, announced that The Lights of Bago 2010 is a joint effort of the City Government of Bago, The Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg, Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, International Friendship Club of Negros Island and SMART Communications.
LOB 2010 will be held at the Manuel Y. Torres Sports Center in Bago City at 7:00 in the evening of New Year’s Day.
The Executive Committee of LOB 2010 is headed by Mayor Ramon D. Torres as Executive Chairman; Vice-Mayor Nicolas Yulo, Vice-Chairman; Raymond Stoffel, Executive Director; Toots B. Jimenez Jr as Event & Ground Management Director; Rosseni Mina, Director for Government Support Services and David Po Villanueva, Director for Pyrotechnical.
Mayor Torres extends all his support to make the LOB 2010 a more successful one as Mr. Stoffel said that this musical symphony of fireworks will be a different musical and pyrotechnical presentation as the first as he has blended varied musical movie themes to be digitally synchronized with the pyrotechnics that will be presented on ground and up the air.
Stofffel expressed his gratitude to SMART Communications for accepting his invitation to SMART to participate and make the event a community-worthy one. For LOB 2010, Stoffel said that he is inspired to work with the City Mayor to build the Bago City Children’s Playground. Funds for this project will come from the proceeds of raffle tickets sold at P10 only where one would have the chance to win any of the thirty (30) SMART cellphones donated by the telecom company.
The electronic raffle winners will be drawn after the end of the pyrotechnics show and one could buy as many raffle tickets to get more chances to win cellphones.
The pyrotechnical show is FREE to the general public and residents from all over the province are invited to experience another blend of fireworks excitement. The organizing committee said that ample parking space is being designed to accommodate hundreds of vehicles by closing the main road to moving vehicular traffic and converting the entire length for car parking convenience.
Mayor Torres has directed the PNP Bago and Bantay Bayan to provide traffic and order in the entire vicinity to ensure convenience of an expected crowd of 39,000 to watch the musical symphony of fireworks.
A Media Box has also been allotted for exclusive use of the covering media outfits and photographers and appropriate road signage to guide the visitors will be provided by the City Engineer’s Office. Medical Teams and ERU facilities including fire trucks of the city have been deployed in the area to anticipate the need. Security measures have also been designed by the Bago City PNP.
