Scavenger digs hand grenade
A 65-year old scavenger discovered a partially buried a fuse type M204A2 hand grenade while searching for scrap materials in a vacant lot at Barangay Compania, Molo.
In a press release sent by PO2 Jasper Dale Abancio to The News Today, said Antonio Leonor found the hand grenade while he was looking for scrap materials about 2:20 p.m. of January 4, 2010.
Leonor, who is also from Compania found out that a hand grenade, was placed inside a tin can. The tin can was then put in a plastic bottle. When found, residents informed the Explosive Ordnance Division (EOD) of the Iloilo City Police Office.
A team led by PO2 Hildo Galecio went to the site after they received the information on the presence of a hand grenade. The grenade was brought by the EOD for disposition.
The military and police are the ones allowed to possess such kind of hand grenade.
