Celebrate Dinagyang at SM City Iloilo

This year’s Dinagyang is sure to be notches higher from the previous years celebration as it stands tall to be the Best Festival in the Country for three(3) consecutive years earning it the Hall of Fame award from the Association of Tourism Officers of the Philippines(ATOP).
Various activities are lined-up that make up this year’s celebration a more exciting one. The Ms. Dinagyang Swimsuit Competition is set January 6, 2010, 4PM at the Event Center. After the successful Official Presentation of Candidates last January 4, the swimsuit competition is sure to heat up the candidates as they are on their way to get the most coveted title of Ms. Dinagyang 2010.
On January 10 and 11, respectively, the Newspaper Gown Competition and the Headdress Competition will be another spectacle of the pagaent. The Ms. Dinagyang evening Gown Competition is scheduled on January 14, 4 PM at the Event Center.
Meanwhile, the Dinagyang Kapamilya Dance Showdown will be launched on January 8, 2010, 5 PM at the Event Center. The 1st Elimination will also take place on the same date. The 2nd elimination will be on January 13. The winners of the two eliminations will battle in the Grand Finals set January 22, 2pm at the Event Center.
Racing enthusiasts will once again enjoy with the 2nd Dinagyang Autocross at the SM Parking Lot on January 15 and 16. Awarding will be on January 17, 2010.
The Dinagyang Arts Festival is a new addition to Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc’s special events that will surely add color to the event. It will be held on January 17-21 at the event Center every afternoon. A painting competition is set on January 21, 10am-3pm at the Event Center.
There will also be a Dressing up Dagoy Competition on January 17 from 10am-2pm at the Event Center.
The Photographic Society of Iloilo (PSI) will hold the Dinagyang Through the Years exhibit on January 11-24 at the Lower Ground Floor between Sarabia Jewelry and Karat World.
The Tourism Information Desk will also be set up on January 11-24 at the Lower Ground Floor unleased area near Forever Flawless for inquiries on Dinagyang and other tourism related activities. This project is in partnership with the Department of Tourism VI, Iloilo City Tourism and Development Office, the Association of Iloilo Travel and Tour Operators (AITTO), and Iloilo Hotels, Resorts and Restaurants Association (IRRHA).
The Food Festival will be a sure extravaganza on January 22- 24 as SM Foodcourt tenants will bring out the best of their respective menus. Mix that with the latest tunes played by local and manila bands on these two-day foodfest. And what a way to celebrate with all that fireworks in the sky!
