TMEU to modify traffic rerouting scheme
SENIOR Inspector Bob Foerster, chief of the Traffic Management and Engineering Unit (TMEU) said they will modify their traffic rerouting scheme during Dinagyang festival because of the ongoing construction of the P386-million flyover along Luna-Jalandoni Streets.
The construction of the second flyover commenced on December 22, 2009 and is expected to be completed by Jun. 22, 2010.
Foerster said they will change the routes of public utility vehicles which were then allowed to pass General Luna and Jalandoni Streets during the festivity. The traffic rerouting scheme is more or less the same in previous years.
He said they are hoping to come up with a traffic rerouting scheme before the final activity with considerations on motorists plying General Luna and Jalandoni Streets.
Foerster added that they have some 250 traffic aides in the city to man the traffic during the yearly celebration in honor of Senior Sto. Nino. The strength of the traffic aides is apart from the police auxiliaries.
The police auxiliaries were hired by the city government as force multiplier to the current number of police force of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO).
