34th Sinulog festival opening salvo today in Kabankalan
A PROGRAM for the opening salvo of the week-long 34th Sinulog 2009 celebration will be held today, Jan.8, 5 p.m. at the city public plaza.
The opening day will be highlighted with concelebrated novena mass at the St. Francis Xavier Cathedral, blessing of the images of Sto. Nino during the Holy Mass and procession of these images with five tribes and the KCC Sad-Sad dancers at 5 p.m.
During the program, there will be presentation of the candidates for the Seach for Hara Sang Negros by Engr. Rey Cordro, chairman, committee on search, Hara sang Negros. This will be followed by a ceremonial face soot daubing by Engr. R Diaz, chairman, Kabankalan Sinulog Foundation, Inc.
The festival will be officially declared open by city mayor Pedro Zayco. Drum beats of the warrior tribes and fireworks display will end the program.
