City gov’t commends 11 auxiliary cops
The Iloilo City government yesterday gave commendation to 11 police auxiliaries who have shown worthy performance during their tour of duty.
The 11 police auxiliaries who received certificates of recognition were Glenn Puertas, Carlos Maprangala Jr, Pablo Roda III, Jose Salvador Aguirre, Randy Deocampo, Edward Amihan, Angel Vale, Emilio Matulac II, Alex Dimapilasan, Erwin Bantad and Jenny Gandecila. They have helped the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) in the campaign against street crimes.
The certificates of recognition were given by Councilor Erwin Plagata, chair of the committee on police matters of the Sangguniang Panlungsod, and ICPO director Sr. Supt. Melvin Mongcal in yesterday’s flag-raising ceremony at the ICPO parade ground.
The 11 members of the Barangay Peacekeeping Team (BPT) otherwise known as police auxiliaries were commended for the arrest of several suspects involved in snatching, theft, malicious mischief and alarm and scandal. They also effected the arrest of suspects violating City Ordinance 138 or the illegal possession of deadly weapons.
Plagata believes the police auxiliaries who are considered as force multiplier have been very effective in the campaign against criminalities.
The police auxiliaries were hired by the city government in 2009 to address the inadequate number of policemen under the ICPO.
The police auxiliaries were hired on contractual basis. The renewal of their contracts would be based on their performance. They would also be given priorities in the hiring of city police.
