There’s no bidding yet for the construction of the new Iloilo City Hall building. Because of this, it is already apparent that outgoing Mayor Jerry Treñas will be stepping down without seeing the city hall construction start. As to why there is delay in the conduct of bidding only the members of the Bids and Awards Committee can tell.

Ex-Mayor Mansing Malabor wondered why the present city administration conducted a gift-giving activity last December using people’s money. He said, during his nine years stint as city mayor he has never done a similar act. “Mag gift-giving ko ya sang una gapangita ko sponsors nga mga private individuals or business establishments,” the former mayor, who is running for congressman for the second time, said.

Various surveys in the congressional race in Iloilo City have shown Mayor Jerry Treñas leading over incumbent Cong. Raul Gonzalez Jr. But sources say Mayor Jerry should not be so complacent because Dr. Pacita G. is ready to spend millions just to ensure that his son gets his third and last term as congressman.

Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported that illegal drugs still proliferate in all barangays in Iloilo City despite the long years of battle against it.
