20 contestants to join ‘Luces in the Sky’
Twenty contestants from the different parts of the country will once again awe Ilonggos with colorful and fantastic fireworks as they compete in the two-day “Luces in the Sky” fireworks competition.
Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) committee on fireworks head Robert Alor said as of Jan. 12, 20 contestants have signified their intentions to join the contest. Of the 20 contestants, only one comes from Iloilo City.
The “Luces in the Sky” is one of the added attractions in the 2010 Dinagyang celebration. In its first year, the event caused a chaotic traffic in the city as public and private vehicles were stuck on the road while watching the fireworks.
The lone contestant from Iloilo City is the Supreme Fireworks of Joseph Delumpa. The rest comes from Cebu, Manila, Misamis Oriental, General Santos City, Dumaguete and Bulacan. Last year’s winner in the fireworks competition is from Dumaguete.
The contestants for the fireworks competition are Ulyses Fireworks (Cebu), LF fireworks (Manila), Anisan Fireworks (Negros Oriental), Avila fireworks (Misamis Oriental), AAA Fireworks (General Santos), Pyro Haven fireworks (Cebu), Chintang Fireworks (Manila), Nation Fireworks (Bulacan) and DSS Fireworks (Dumaguete).
The 10 other contestants are Fren’zm Fireworks (General Santos), Wahing Fireworks (Cebu), A.R.E. Fireworks (Cebu), Digispec Fireworks (Misamis Occidental), Six J Fireworks (Manila), RB Fireworks (Cebu) and NTR Fireworks (Cebu).
The 20 contestants would be divided into 2 groups. Ten contestants will compete on Jan. 22 and the 10 remaining contestants will compete on Jan. 23. The fireworks competition would be held at the car park of SM City. Cash prizes await the winners.
