Revalidation of coop, farmers’ passbook starts
ROXAS CITY – The food agency in Capiz has called on Capiceño farmers to process the revalidation of their passbook.
Registration and Licensing Officer Jose Davila Jr. of the National Food Authority provincial office here disclosed that they are already starting the month-long revalidation of farmers and cooperatives’ passbook.
Davila said that the revalidation of passbook this month, which will end on January 31, is a requirement of the NFA for the upcoming cropping season.
He pointed out that two months before the cropping season, farmers and cooperatives are required to revalidate their passbook with the food agency for them to sell their farm produce for said cropping.
The next revalidation of passbooks will be on July, Davila said, stressing that the regular revalidation aims to update data of farmers or cooperatives such as membership.
On the other hand, Davila revealed that they have also started the renewal of licenses of grains retailers in Capiz.
He said that they have also scheduled out of towns license renewal of grains retailers.
He said that the initiative is part of their efforts to bring the government closer to the people as well as to make no burden to their clienteles especially in terms of incurring more expenses such as transportation.
Davila said that for January, the scheduled towns include Cuartero, Dao and Dumarao while the towns of Panay, Pontevedra and Panitan will have their license renewal on February.
For March, he said, Pilar, Maayon and President Roxas are being scheduled; Roxas City in April, and Jamindan, Tapaz and Dumarao will be on May.
Last year, some P51,000 were collected from 51 grains retailers in Capiz who were penalized for violation of grains trading here. (PIA/Jemin B. Guillermo)
