KBP-Capiz condoles with family of Sec. Remonde
ROXAS CITY – The Kapisanan ng mga Broadkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP) – Capiz Chapter was saddened by Press Secretary Cerge M. Remonde’s untimely death due to a major heart attack yesterday morning.
“We condole with the bereaved family of Sec. Remonde,” said KBP – Capiz Chairman and Radio Mindanao Network (RMN) – Roxas Station Manager Ely Abarra.
Abarra, who is in Bacolod City for a conference, said in a text message that a resolution will be drafted by the KBP local chapter and will be conveyed to Remonde’s family members.
Remonder, 51, was pronounced dead at the Makati Medical Center when doctors failed to revive him after he was found unconscious from a “major heart incident” in his home in Bel Air, Makati City.
He was appointed Press Secretary on February 1, 2009.
He has also served President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s administration in various capacities such as director-general of the Presidential Management Staff, head of the Government Mass Media Group and Press Undersecretary for Broadcast Media.
The OPS top official has also overseen various government-owned media outfits such as NBN 4, RPN 9, IBC 13, Radyo ng Bayan and Philippine News Agency.
Remonde hailed from Argao, Cebu and graduated magna cum laude at the University of Visayas in Cebu City.
He has been a popular radio commentator on the Cebu-based labor-oriented DYLA radio station which became his launching pad to national prominence in the broadcast industry where he served for several terms as head of the KBP. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
