Bacolod City Public Library inspires students to read more
The Bacolod City Public Library, that was recently adjudged as one of the top six best libraries in the Philippines, encourages students from public and private schools to read more often.
Through updated books and other reading materials, including the Bacolod Archives which is a regular source of historical data, students understand the importance of reading that has become a thing of the past with the onset of technology.
Mayor Evelio Leonardia has always prioritized the improvement of library services as he believed that this facility is a great help to students’ learning. He had ordered the purchase of new reading materials for the library and to improve the facility.
The facility provides learning and reading materials to the general public such as books, periodicals, magazines, references and other informative materials free of charge. It is open Monday to Friday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and accommodates the general public.
People who may wish to borrow books from the library should fill the membership forms and other requirements, such as identification card and picture, for verification. City Librarian Merlyn Corpuz requested book borrowers to return the books or materials on their respective due date so it could be useful to others.
