PMMMA conducts medical mission, turns over equipment and supplies
The Philippine Minnesotan Medical Mission Association (PMMMA) has started the conduct of the medical, surgical, and dental mission in Cadiz City, today.
Prior to the mission, thousands of indigent patients who came from the different towns and cities of the Province of Negros Occidental underwent pre-screening done by the medical team headed by mission coordinator, Dr. Bernard Quebral.
The activity is on-going until Friday at Cadiz District Hospital and as well as in Sagay City.
Meanwhile, Gov. Isidro P. Zayco, Dr. Quebral and Dr. Ramon Gustilo of the Arnag Foundation have signed the deed of donation of the medical equipment and supplies donated by the PMMMA today at Cadiz District Hospital.
The donated items include anesthesia machines, ultra sound machines, ECG, cardiac monitors, hospital beds, wheelchairs, electro-cautery machines, surgical ortho tables, suction machines, medicines, and laboratory supplies, among others.
The mission hopes to serve indigent patients that need major and minor surgical operations such as thyroidectomy, hysterectomy, oophorectomies, tubal ligation, excision of cysts and masses, herniorrhaphy, total abdominal hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oopherectomy (TAHBSO), hernia repair, and other procedures that will pass the pre-screening process.
All medical services will be free of charge and will include laboratory tests, free medicines and post-operational medications.
The 60-member medical group is a consortium of charitable humanitarian organizations from Minnesota, USA, composed of the Philippine Minnesotan Medical Association represented by ex-officio president, Dr. Bernard Quebral, Philippine Nurses Association of Minnesota represented by ex-officio President Sarah Puerto, and the International Personnel Resources (IPR).
The on-going activity is in coordination with the provincial government through Atty. Japhet Masculino and Yvonne Gustilo of the Economic Enterprise Development Department (EEDD), and Dr. Rhoel Mogul who heads the Hospital Operations Division of the EEDD. (Capitol News)
