DOLE to intensify efforts in monitoring funded projects in WV
To ensure the success and sustainability of all funded livelihood projects in Western Visayas, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Region 6 planned to intensify its efforts in monitoring existing and new livelihood projects funded in 2009.
Region 6 has approved 49 livelihood projects and released close to P18 million in 2009 to assist a total of 4,458 workers in the formal and informal economy and the unemployed enhance their existing livelihood, restore their lost livelihood resources due to natural calamities, and engage in livelihood undertakings to provide and augment their families’ income.
DOLE 6 Director Aida M. Estabillo created early last year the Region’s monitoring teams, 1 in Panay and 1 in Negros Occidental, composed of people from the technical and accounting divisions to monitor and evaluate all funded projects in 2008.
The Region has approved 51 project proposals in 2008 and released the amount of P16.17 million to fund the various livelihood projects of 3,628 workers in the formal and informal economy and the unemployed.
Estabillo said she will activate the monitoring teams and intensify their efforts in monitoring and evaluating the status of existing and new livelihood projects to ensure their sustainability.
Estabillo disclosed that the teams’ findings last year enabled her office to address the many problems encountered by the beneficiaries before and during the projects’ implementation.
“Malaki ang na-itulong ng aming monitoring teams sa pagsisiguro na ang lahat na proyekyo na nabigyan ng pera ay naipatupad,” she said.
“This year, we will double our efforts in monitoring new and existing projects to ensure their success and sustainability,” she added.
The team will start its monitoring activities next month.
