19 houses razed in two separate fires in Roxas City
ROXAS CITY – Nineteen houses were gutted by fire in separate incidents here which rendered some 50 families homeless last Friday evening and yesterday in Zamora Street, Brgy. 5 and Burgos Ilawod, Brgy. 6, respectively.
FO2 Marlon B. Garbo of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Roxas City revealed that the fire incident in Zamora street, Brgy. 5, took place around 9:30 p.m., February 5 where 13 houses owned by, namely, Bongbong Amago, Boy Balguma, Cita de la Cruz, Soleng Arabia, Antonio Buenvenida, Romano Bilan, Ernesto Policarpio, Loloy Clavido, Eddie Salvador, Puerto Almalbis, Nita Aldea, Leony Pugna and Inday Chu were totally razed by fire.
Garbo said that the estimated damage was placed in the amount of P1.2 million while there was no casualty nor person injured during the fire incident.
The origin of fire was not yet established by BFP however, residents claimed that the fire started at the house of Bongbong Amago where allegedly a kerosene lamp was forgotten by the owner during the brownout.
Garbo said that 13 firetrucks to include those from different towns responded during the fire.
On the other hand, some six houses were also gutted by fire yesterday at around 9:00 a.m. at Burgos Ilawod, Brgy. 6 this city.
Garbo also reported that four houses owned by Philippine Army Sgt. Leopoldo Aranzado, Estrella Cadiz, Joel Abagatnan and Milagros Polendey were totally damaged while houses of Emmanuel Cadiz and Rowena Villasinor were partially damaged.
Estimated damage according to Garbo was placed in the amount of P800,000. There was also no reported casually and injured during the fire incident.
Initial investigation conducted by BFP pointed to electrical circuit as the cause of fire.
The city government, provincial government, NGOs and the office of Sen. Manny Villar through Sapian Mayor Arturo Orosco, Sr. and the public officials have extended help to the fire victims.
