Ex-CAFGU nabbed for robbery
A former member of the Civilian Armed Forces Geographical Unit (CAFGU) was arrested for robbery charge very recently at Poblacion, Pototan Iloilo.
Combined elements of Regional Intelligence Unit (RIU) VI, together with intelligence operatives from the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), arrested Henry Guci of of Brgy. Pangilihan, Janiuay, Iloilo.
The suspect was nabbed by virtue of an arrest warrant for Criminal Case No. 06-62906 for robbery with violence against or intimidation of persons issued by Judge Roger B. Patricio, RTC Branch 39, Iloilo City last February 20, 2008.
The suspect initially resisted arrest but was later subdued and handcuffed.
But it looks like Guci will be facing more than just robbery chare.
When he was arrested, a hand grenade and a caliber. 38 revolver with defaced serial number and several live ammunitions were also taken from his possession.
One of the province’s most wanted persons, Guci was also a suspect in several robbery incidents in some areas of Iloilo province.
The latest of which was last January 8, 2010 wherein a total of P80,000 and a .38 caliber pistol were taken from a certain Ronnie Perez.
Reports said that RIU-6 put the suspect under surveillance after receiving information that his group is planning to conduct robbery in the areas of Iloilo City and neighboring towns.
When asked, the suspect claimed he has no knowledge what was the particular charge he is facing.
“Robbery siguro. Amo pa na ang indi ko masigurado. Ma-gwa man na gihapon sa imbestigasyon,” he said.
Guci admitted, though, to have robbed a businessman in Lambunao town, Iloilo.
“Ambot kung amo na nga kaso ah. Upod kami to ni Ramy Moquite,” he added.
Moquite was arrested earlier for the came charge.
Further, Guci denied that he is still into robbery or criminal operation.
He added that he has long stopped any involvement with any crime group after he got married and went to Mindanao.
He claimed to have been backed only almost a year ago.
The suspect is presently detained at RIU-6 for proper disposition of his case.
