SSS Bacolod releases P288M loans in 2009
The Social Security System (SSS) –Bacolod Branch has released close to P288 million loans to its 25, 348 members in the province who availed of the privilege from January to December of 2009.
In 2008 covering the same period, P257 million was released to 22,891 who applied according to records provided to PIA by SSS Information Officer Maricel Arrita-Locsin.
Records further show that the office has more than 2.2 million members in Western Visayas. From this figure, 49,835 are employers, more than 1.4 million are employees and more than 539,000 are self-employed.
Nationwide, the SSS has more than 29 million members–850,338 are employers, more than 20 million are employees, 5.4 million are self-employed and 2.6 million are voluntary members.
From January to September last year, the office has released a salary loan of more than P10 billion to 733,136 members.
With the leadership of its president and chief executive officer Romulo Neri, the “SSS aims to develop and promote a viable, universal and equitable social security protection scheme through world-class service.”
It also aims to provide social security protection to all residents of the Philippines, citizens and non-citizens alike, regardless of creed, gender, age, geographic location and economic status, especially the disadvantaged, so that no one will become a burden to the society.
