38th Iloilo Paraw Regatta festival a huge success
Department of Tourism 6 (DOT) Regional Director Edwin Trompeta yesterday said the 38th Iloilo Paraw Regattta is very successful. The event capped without any serious problems or challenges.
Trompeta said the weeklong event ended smoothly. It is the smoothest Paraw festival ever held. The results as well as the awarding were made early. There were no violations recorded during the paraw sailing competition.
Though, there are still paraw sailing contestants who failed to get their finishers card. There are paraw sailing contestants who stayed long on the shore, said Trompeta.
When compared last year, Trompeta said the sports event gathered much crowd. There was also a better crowd control and performance area for the performers of the Sinamba sa Paraw Regatta Mardi gras.
The colorful fireworks dubbed as Luces by the Sea also gathered crowd Saturday night along the shoreline of Arevalo. Several other events were held in adding more fun and excitement to the event.
The success of the event will maintain the Iloilo Paraw Regatta to hold its title as the best sports tourism event in the country. “Nothing can beat the Iloilo Paraw Regatta as the best sailboat race in the country,” said Trompeta.
The Iloilo Paraw Regatta is a sports tourism event sponsored by the Iloilo Paraw Regatta Foundation Inc., city government and Department of Tourism regional office.
He also said they will ensure that all the events lined with the Iloilo Paraw Regatta festival are well-coordinated. The event organizers must be given guidelines to make sure the events are well-coordinated with the Iloilo Paraw Regatta Foundation Inc. and the Department of Tourism.
