Righteous man pray to God for rain
Why the hullabaloo of the dry spell? Are the farmers and field workers not aware that the Philippines has two seasons, the dry and wet? According to rainologists, the dry spell starts in October to May while the wet season or rainy days commence in late May and up to September. In some instances however, there is rain in January or February or beyond but God is in control of the atmospheric condition. Many agronomists and land tillers believe that the Supreme Power above feels that the land utilized for plants should be given rest for several months to fully regain its fertility and other soil ingredients. That was the practice of farmers before. They lay idle their rice fields for 5-6 months and start plowing the field when rain comes. Soil is like the body that when it is overdosed by too many medicines, sickness erupts. With too much fertilizer and chemicals applied to the land, it will also deteriorate. I still remember when I was growing in Bita, Oton, in the farmland of my auntie, farmers after harvest time put “dagami” or haystack to the land and let it decay. Some farmers burned the haystack and let it dry for months.
Instead of shouting in printable words when rain does not come, why not pray to God Almighty without ceasing. James 5:17-18, “Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.” Psalms 34:17, “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears, and delivers them out of their troubles.” “The Lord is far from the wicked, but He hears the prayer of the righteous.” Proverbs 15:29
But be cautious when you pray to God. He hears the prayer of righteous man. A righteous man is one who walks in the footsteps of Jesus Christ, be born again, do away with evil ways and accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. If a person is wicked, fond of womanizing, gambling, corrupt, murderer and commit abominable acts to God, will God of the universe listen to his prayer? It’s not too late when people are not of God’s children for when they die they go straight to hell according to the Bible. They could not say anymore, “Lord bring me back to earth so that I will make amend of my sins.” No way! Like the rich man who pleaded to Lazarus who was tormented in the lake of fire. “Lazarus, Lazarus,” who was comfortably enjoying life in heaven, “if I could only dip my hand in water for I am tormented here in hell!” And the man said, “Lord if you could send me back to earth so that I could tell my brothers to worship God and be righteous and do not follow me here in hell!”
While still here on earth, believe in Jesus Christ and be righteous and holy for you will inherit God’s eternal kingdom.
Just watch when righteous people pray for rain, God will open the windows of heaven and pour out water from heaven. But Lord we pray that only rain but not flood so that our impatient farmers and land tillers can plant rice, corn, etc. We praise you Lord for answered prayer not only for rain but for peace of our nation especially during this election time in May 2010.
