Roxas to grace 2nd One Visayas celebration in Capiz, too
ROXAS CITY – Aside from President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo who is expected to grace One Visayas celebration, Sen. Manuel Roxas, Liberal Party (LP) vice presidential candidate is also expected to grace the event although in a separate location and time.
Regional Director Edwin Trompeta of the Department of Tourism (DOT) said in a press conference last Tuesday that Sen. Roxas was invited by Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. to speak before the Cultural Summit, one of the One Visayas activities to be held at Gerry Roxas Foundation (GRF) on March 14 at 4 p.m.
According to Trompeta, Sen. Mar Roxas was invited since he is a Capiceño and senator of the Republic of the Philippines.
“We have to accept the reality that this is a political season in which politicians are inevitable to use the affair as venue of their campaign,” Trompeta said.
However, he said that the policy of the One Visayas organizers is that there will be no speeches to be delivered to make the affair into political campaigning.
Capiz province is ready to host the affair as it’s all systems go for the 2nd One Visayas, One People, One Destiny this coming March 11-14, 2010 at the Villareal Stadium here.
The peace and order was assured by no less than P/Senior Supt. Josephus Angan during the affair as more police from different municipalities will augment.
Admittedly, Tanco said that the political leaders in Capiz are divided due to different political affiliation in May 10 election however, people of Capiz will be united to One Visayas, One People, One Destiny celebration.
The Capiz governor also said that he is glad to know that all sectors from society cooperated the affair adding that he hoped the affair will become success like the hosting of Cebu City last year.
Tanco said that the success of Capiz province in hosting the 2nd One Visayas, One People, One Destiny, is also the success of Western Visayas.
