P400T worth of shabu nabbed in airport raid
AFTER a thorough surveillance, one of the alleged illegal drug distributors in Bacolod City was finally netted.
Members of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Negros Occidental, in coordination with the Police Center for Aviation Security and Silay City PNP, arrested Xavier Louis Rosales, 38 of Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.
Rosales’ arrest came after an airport drug interdiction operation 7:45 p.m. of Monday that led to the confiscation of some 40 grams of suspected shabu worth P400,000.
According to PDEA-VI Regional Director Paul Ledesma, the suspect has long been on their watchlist of illegal drug personalities in the area.
“He is a member of a drug group although we could not say that he is a leader. He is a distributor operating in Bacolod City and northern Negros Occidental,” he added.
Ledesma said that they finally collared Rosales after a Manila-based informant tipped that Rosales will receive a contraband through a cargo.
After the monitoring, PDEA learned that a cargo was sent through Cebu Pacific Airlines and was consigned to the suspect.
When the raid was conducted, PDEA recovered suspected shabu stuffed inside separately inside the three boxes of Fita biscuits, 3 boxes of Pretzels, 3 boxes of Hany biscuits, and two packs of Choco Money.
“We don’t know why the cargo company did not doubt about it. Sa kadamo man sang Fita sa Bacolod, nga-a nga kinahanglan magpa-cargo gid?” Ledesma quipped.
With the arrest of Rosales, PDEA is expecting that drug personalities would find other means to send their illegal drug supply.
