Feeding program to benefit four additional public elementary schools in Iloilo
FOUR public elementary highs school from this city will be the additional recipients of a feeding program dubbed as ‘Busog, Lusog, Talino’ (BLT) to be undertaken by the Jollibee Foundation (JF) in partnership with the Western Visayas College of Science and Technology (WVCST) and the city government here starting this June.
The schools are the Ticud Elementary School, Graciano Lopez Jaena Elementary School, Cubay Elementary School and the Balabago Elementary School.
The feeding program will be for Grades I and II of the above-mentioned recipients.
City executive assistant for education Mathilde Octavio said they have been chosen based on the nutritional status of pupils as well as the leadership and commitment of the city officials to pursue the program once the partners already get out of the program.
Octavio said the most important factor is the support of the parents because they are expected to become hands-on during the preparation of the foods that will be served to the pupil-beneficiaries.
She added that the foundation, prior this upcoming feeding program, has already extended similar project to five public elementary schools in the city.
Also, the Metrobank Foundation and the Zuellig Pharma also assisted similar program to three schools under the “A Lunch to Gain Program” although it was only a one time program.
Octavio added that with the change in the administration after the May polls the implementing partners are also looking for assurance that the program will be sustained.
She disclosed that the city government as its counterpart provides the rice component of all the on-going feeding programs. (PNA)
